Wenger fails in £15m bid for World Cup winner, Arsenal quoted whopping €30m

Clearly, an injury to one of your biggest players is never a good thing nor an event any of the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern would wish upon a star, though it’s fair to say Per Mertesacker’s ailment sparked an element of excitement.

With the BFG ruled out for a number of months, Arsene Wenger was reported to have turned his attentions to some much needed defensive reinforcements as he looks to develop a squad capable of challenging for the title.

One of those is thought to be Valencia ace, and fellow World Cup winner, Shkodran Mustafi.

The 24-year old is thought to have a €50m release clause inserted into his deal with Los Che, after emerging as one of the most formidable defenders in La Liga.

However, in typical Wenger fashion, the Gunners have reportedly made a low offer for the former Everton youngster, one that has been snubbed.

According to Valencia based media outlet Plaza Deportivathe North London giants have seen an €18m (£15.2m) bid rejected by top brass at the Mestalla.

Still, the report claims that the deal is not yet dead and the La Liga giants are understood to want between €25m-€30m for their star.

Would Mustafi be worth €30m?! Let us know below…
