Though little could dampen the mood amongst the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern after finally disposing of Chelsea, reports from the Daily Mail have caused concern.
They claim Francis Coquelin could be ruled out for a matter of months, after going off injured in the Gunners’ 3-0 thumping of their growing ever bitter rivals at the Emirates on Saturday.
In recent months, the Frenchman has established himself as a lynchpin in Arsene Wenger’s midfield, acting as the enforcer to partner Santi Cazorla in the holding roles.
It’s claimed the North London giants are worried the 25-year-old has suffered a recurrence of the medial ligament injury he picked up last season, an ailment that ruled him out for two months.
He could be ruled out for the rest of 2016, with Arsene Wenger expected to find out the extent of his problem today.
Summer signing Granit Xhaka and the ever popular Mohamed Elneny could step in, such is the nature of strength and depth available to Le Prof.
Who should replace Coquelin? Let us know below…
