Manchester City have joined United, Arsenal and Barcelona in the quest to sign Valencia’s and newly capped Spain international Jordi Alba.
The ‘Sunday mirror’ reports that City have sent scouts to watch the promising defender in action and believe he will be a perfect addition to Mancini’s already multi-million pound squad. The former La Masia misfit was a product of Barcelona’s youth academy but was released by the Catalan giants in 2005 due to his stature. He is the player that got away and Barcelona will do everything in their power to bring the 22-year-old back home.
Manchester United have also expressed an interest in the young starlet and have deemed the Spanish left back as a potential long-term replacement for the ageing Patrice Evra.
He is one of Los Che’s brightest prospects and despite the club suffering financially; they will not want to lose their star player. If Alba is to leave then City’s financial power will certainly give them the edge over their supposed rivals.
Alba has been in a rich vein of form this season making him the latest talent to emerge from the Mestalla. He has grown in reputation for his surging runs and attacking mindset which has not only earned him a call to Spain’s national team, but has been considered as one of Europe’s most promising left-backs.
With the January transfer window on the horizon, Jordi Alba could be on his way out of the Mestalla. With a £20 million buy out clause, teams could possibly view this as a great investment.
