With the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern having drowned their sorrows and then some over the course of the past few days, there hasn’t been much else to talk about amongst them other than Arsene Wenger’s future at the club.
The Gunners in the bar remain split over the ever-divisive Frenchman, so recent reports from the Daily Mail have sparked even more debate amongst our north London locals. They claim Le Prof IS ready to walk away from the club he joined over 20 years ago, despite the fact owner Stan Kroenke reportedly wants the 67-year-old to pen a new deal.
Wenger is believed to have become subdued in the last couple of months after yet another failed title tilt and Wednesday night’s 5-1 mauling at the hands of Bayern Munich is understood to have been a watershed moment. Although the owners seem to want him to stay, the former Monaco coach is said to be aware of the growing opposition towards him in the last few months and another trophyless season would only intensify that.
Our locals are split over the notion of him staying, though are pleased there seems to be no chance of him leaving before the end of the season, believing such stability is key.
