Arsenal patrons in the Transfer Tavern have almost come to blows with each other, such is the debate over Jack Wilshere’s future in north London.
The England international signed for Bournemouth on loan at the start of the season in a bid to regain his fitness after managing just 17 Premier League appearances during his last two campaigns at the Emirates Stadium.
But the 25-year-old hasn’t always been a guaranteed starter under Eddie Howe and has now been ruled out for the rest of the campaign, after fracturing his lower leg last weekend with an uneasy challenge on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.
Wilshere’s future at his parent club remains cloudy; in addition to his tribulations this season, the his Arsenal contract is due to expire at the end of next season.
But Gunners gaffer Arsene Wenger has insisted Wilshere’s latest injury crisis won’t affect his plans to hold contract talks with the crocked midfielder during the summer.
As quoted by Sky Sports, he said; “This injury has nothing to do with the extension of Jack’s contract. I don’t know, we haven’t entered into any negotiations. I think for all these cases where there is only one year to go, we will enter into negotiations during the break.”
Arsenal patrons in the Tavern remain divided over the news. Whilst some see Wilshere as one of the few players who can claim to be Arsenal through-and-through, others believe he’s already been given enough chances to make himself a key star under Wenger.
