Ahead of the massive Champions League tie with Bayern Munich later tonight in which many people feel the Germans will prevail, it seems that Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are finally set for some good news courtesy of Metro.
The paper claim that after years of watching other clubs in the Premier League spend money and essentially overtake them in the league, now Wenger is finally set to splash the cash. Finishing in fourth place in the Premier League is now essential given the Gunners rather embarrassing exit from the FA Cup, not to mention a nightmare tie against Bayern Munich that many are presuming the Allianz Arena-based club will win.
Now in order to abate at least some of the discontent at the Emirates Stadium, Wenger is willing to spend no less than £70 million in order to stop the rot. The Frenchman has seen the spine of his team disintegrate and sees several key positions where he needs to bring in new faces.
After a rather extraordinary rant at his latest press conference and towards the Daily Mail in particular, Wenger seems more on edge than ever before with some fans calling for his head and others calling for the two year extension that was rumoured earlier this week.
Do Arsenal need to splash £70 million to address their problems? More to the point who should they buy? Let us know your thoughts below.
