There was a stark contrast of emotions in the Football Transfer Tavern on Sunday evening after the punters had watched a 4-3 thriller which saw Liverpool take the spoils from Arsenal at the Emirates.
It was the highlight of what was otherwise a fairly drab opening weekend of the Premier League season, as the Gunners clawed back some pride from a 4-1 deficit.
Of course, with players missing and not fully fit after the Euros, not too much was expected and being that it is only the first day of the season and with another 111 points up for grabs, the result doesn’t matter – does it?
In the eyes of Gooners fans, however, it appears that Wenger should have had the the title tied up by now, anything less is blasphemy.
With that in mind, the result has sparked some big statements in the bar at the Tavern, as well as on Twitter, here are some of the best…
Le Prof was inevitably the target for most of the abuse from the ever fickle Gunners fans:

Some, non Arsenal, fans revelled in the fantastic spectacle that is a North London meltdown:

One fan went further than ever, stating that Cech should have easily stopped Coutinho’s goal of the season contender:
