Why Arsenal would be silly not to sign this Belgian International

Whilst the Arsenal fans at The Football Tavern have been disappointed in Arsenal’s strike force, this signing would change things for the better…

Despite still being in contention for top four and potentially the third FA cup in four years, it would be hard to deny it’s been another underperforming season by the Gunners. One of the reasons being stated is the lack of goals with Liverpool, Man City, Tottenham and Chelsea all achieving a higher goal count.

With Danny Welbeck now being favoured over Olivier Giroud as the lone striker, but being linked – via the Daily Mail – to Galatasaray this summer, it may be time to bring in new talent.

Many fans, including our landlord, believe the perfect replacement or addition would come in the form of Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku.

His towering physique and strength is unquestionable and something that Arsenal have clearly lacked this season when playing against some of the more physical teams such as West Brom. Indeed, his goal tally this year is quite remarkable with 24 goals within 36 Premier League appearances in comparison to just 12 goals between Giroud and Welbeck.

At the age of just 24, there is yet huge potential for him to improve even further. With a new deal yet to be agreed with Everton, now may be the perfect time for Arsene Wenger to confirm his interest and make a real statement on what he hopes to achieve next year.
