Unai Emery will be glad to have finally secured his first Premier League win as Arsenal manager against West Ham at the weekend.

The Spaniard oversaw Arsenal’s worst start to a new league campaign in 26 years following defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea. Replacing Arsene Wenger was always going to be difficult, and their tricky fixtures only made matters worse. So, getting off and running can only be a good thing for the former PSG coach.

The Gunners have added a number of experienced players to their squad this summer, landing Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen and Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund. Despite the window slamming shut two weeks ago, Arsenal could still bolster their ranks through free agents. One man still without a club is former Barcelona star – Yaya Toure.

Valued at £2.25m by Transfermarkt, Toure left Manchester City this summer bringing an end to an eight-year stay with the Citizens. During his time at the club, the Ivorian lifted three Premier League titles, one FA Cup and three English League Cups. The three-time African Player of the Year is also a Champions League winner from his time with Barca.

Undoubtedly, Toure is past his best at 35-years-old but could still be a welcome addition to the squad. His vast amounts of experience could be crucial to Emery in the long-term and help youngster such as Matteo Guendouzi adapt to life in England much quicker. Toure has first-hand knowledge of working with Pep Guardiola which would no doubt benefit the youngster in his debut year in England.

He wouldn’t be a starter, but he could prove to be a masterstroke signing by the former PSG manager.
