Crystal Palace fans in the Transfer Tavern are relieved the club will be playing Premier League football next season, but our punters are devastated that their best player may be on the way out.
After the dreadful start made by Frank De Boer, the Eagles looked destined for relegation before Roy Hodgson took over. The former England manager steered them to safety and could thank Wilfried Zaha for his performances last campaign. Zaha was Palace’s player of the season and one of the main reasons they survived.
His performances have not gone unnoticed with Tottenham (amongst others) reportedly showing massive interest in his signature. If he does decide to leave, replacing him should be made a priority. The ideal man to do so could be Arsenal winger – Alex Iwobi – who is valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt.
The 22-year-old made 26 appearances for the Gunners last campaign, scoring three goals and registering five assists. However, following the arrivals of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, he may struggle for regular game time next season. A loan move could be the perfect move for both Arsenal and Palace.
Iwobi is a quick and powerful winger who is very similar to Zaha. He has failed to impress the Arsenal faithful at times, but a new environment could be just what he needs to kickstart his career. The Nigerian international will be desperate to be a success for the Gunners.
A loan move to Palace would be the perfect place to showcase his talent.
