Arsenal and Napoli may have gone head-to-head on Thursday night in the Europa League to try and put one foot in the semi-finals, however, the game also meant a return for one of the Gunners’ players.
But, it appears it may have been a case of ‘for one night only’ as the player’s father has revealed he has a ‘dream’ of remaining where he is.
What’s the News?
According to an exclusive report by Tuttomercatoweb, David Ospina’s father has revealed that the Colombian goalkeeper is very happy at Napoli and ‘dreams’ of remaining there for a long time.
Hernan Ospina said: “He is very happy in Naples, he finds himself very well with his family and dreams of staying there a long time”.
It would hardly be a surprise to hear that the goalkeeper would be more than happy to stay at the Serie A outfit beyond the end of the campaign.
Ospina has played a rather regular role in Napoli’s side this season, sharing the responsibilities of being in between the sticks with Alex Meret and it is believed the Italians have a clause whereby they have an obligation to make a move for the Colombian international permanent after 25 appearances, although he has only made 21 so far.
Although Arsenal are going to have a vacancy for a new goalkeeper open up at the Emirates Stadium, Bernd Leno is likely going to remain as Unai Emery’s first choice, meaning the South American would just find himself sitting on the bench once again in north London, should the Gunners not find a suitable back up for the German.
Arsenal fans, are you surprised that Ospina would like to stay at Napoli permanently? Would you like to see him back at the Emirates Stadium next season considering Cech’s imminent retirement? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
