The Daily Star have Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern looking fairly panicked after they claim that the Gunners’ move for Mario Balotelli may well be hijacked.
According to the publication, Napoli are worried about the potential departure of Gonzalo Higuain and have lined up AC Milan star and Arsenal target Mario Balotelli as a replacement.
As one of our punters notes, that is typical of Arsene Wenger – to wait so long before making a move for a top rated player only to see another club come in and swoop for him.
Balotelli has been the top target for Arsene Wegner for the majority of the summer and the Frenchman is even thought to be willing to pay £28 million for him – a figure that Napoli are thought to be willing to match.
Should Napoli see Higuain leave for Barcelona and Rafael Benitez’ men swoop for Balotelli, we think that Arsenal fans will be even more unimpressed that they already are.
