Arsenal fans in The Football Transfer Tavern are still looking rather depressed with life following their stuffing at the hands of London rivals Chelsea on Saturday.
Talk today has turned to which positions Arsene Wenger should have strengthened in January rather than resting on his laurels with the Gunners in a strong position to push on and challenge for the Premier League title.
Only crocked Swedish midfielder Kim Kallstrom arrived as the club failed to tie down Schalke star Julian Draxler on deadline day.
Now much to the annoyance of Gunners in the bar, The Express has confirmed another missed January target at the Emirates Stadium.
Former Chelsea winger Salomon Kalou has confirmed that Arsene Wenger had tried to sign him on loan near the end of the transfer window.
However he rejected the opportunity to help his current side attempt to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Kalou told L’Equipe: “A possible departure? Yes, to Arsenal.
“It could have been done as a last-minute loan.
“But I wanted to finish third, prepare for the World Cup and go to the Stade de France to compete in the final of the Coupe de France.”
Would Kalou have been an improvement on the current Arsenal setup? Let us know your thoughts below.
