Arsenal fans in the TransferTavern can’t quite believe what they’re hearing today, after it was indicated that one of their worst performers this season is in-line for an international call-up.
The Mirror states England boss Roy Hodgson is monitoring Arsenal’s wide-man and is considering calling him to the Three Lions squad for the European Championships next month, despite his woeful displays this term.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot at Arsenal and has fallen behind 20-year-old Alex Iwobi in the pecking order recently, raising questions regarding the former Southampton man’s long-term suitability to the squad.
The winger has also spent the last two-months out injured but returned to U21 action last week, putting him back in the mind of Hodgson ahead of his 23-man squad announcement next Thursday.
Oxlade-Chamberlain featured in England’s Euro 2012 campaign and was also called-up to the last World Cup in 2014, although injuries prevented him from featuring in Brazil.
