After reading the latest reports from talkSPORT, Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have just discovered that the club have missed out on one of their young transfer targets.
The player in question is Spanish Under-19 international starlet Adama Traore who has opted to sign fresh terms with Barcelona instead of joining the Gunners.
Traore has extended his stay with the Catalan giants after becoming the latest in a long line of young stars to graduate from their prestigious La Masia academy.
La Masia has produced the likes of Lionel Messi and Cesc Fabregas in the past and Wenger was hoping he would be able to prise the young star from their ranks following swoops for the likes of Hector Bellerin and Jon Toral in years gone by.
But the 18-year-old winger stayed loyal, having already made a first team appearance for Barcelona’s chief team last term which sparked interest from across Europe.
Traore has now ended any speculation of him leaving the Spanish giants after signing a contract, which will keep him in Barcelona until 2018.
“I am very happy. It’s a dream come true for any player from the youth system. It’s a happy day for my family,” Traore told Barca TV.
“I think a lot of the reason for my progression lies with the coaches I have had here at Barca as they have told me how to improve, which is what I try to do.”
Arsenal fans. Surely you aren’t too gutted to miss out on the signing of this young starlet? After all; you’ve always been chasing after ready-made pros in recent windows, haven’t you? Let us know your thoughts below.
