After being called up to Fabio Capello’s England squad for the midweek friendly against Hungary, City manager Roberto Mancini is expected follow suit in showing faith in Hart by making the former Shrewsbury Town player his number one.
This leaves Given looking as though he will be facing time on the bench at Eastlands this season and Gunner’s boss Arsene Wenger looks to bring the keeper to the North London outfit as his number one for the league campaign.
While any permanent deal for the Irish ace looks unlikely at the present time, it is hoped a loan move can be agreed which would suit both Given and Arsenal, but it is still unclear whether City would be willing to let him go.

Pre season performances from both Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski have done nothing to fill the Arsenal boss and his back row with confidence so far and he will look to the former Newcastle United shot stopper to provide much needed stability and confidence in a much criticized defensive set up.
Arsenal begin their Premier League campaign this weekend with a difficult away tie against Roy Hodgson’s Liverpool, while Manchester City will travel to White Hart Lane to face Champions League hopefuls Tottenham.
