Lille are weighing up a January move for young Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin, according to French reports. The 20-year-old Frenchman has made a handful of appearances for The Gunners this season. But it seems Arsene Wenger views Emmanuel Frimpong in higher regard than the French Under-21 international, and with Jack Wilshere set to return next month, Coquelin may see fewer first-team opportunities come his way.
Coquelin, whose current contract expires in 2013, stated last month that he wants to play more regularly and if he is unable to then he would consider a winter move away from the Emirates:
‘Given my playing time for sure the idea of a departure this winter is in my head.’
It remains to be seen what Wenger decides to do with the youngster, but perhaps a January loan move would be best for both parties.
Wolves are also rumoured to be interested in the industrious midfielder.
