Arsene Simply Has To Sign Bundesliga’s Highest Rated Key Passer

With deadline day approaching, Arsene has revealed that he is looking to bring in two more players before the transfer window shuts: a defensive option and a midfielder.

It has been widely tipped that the midfielder in question will be Nuri Sahin, a player Arsene has admired for a number of years.

With Real Madrid confirming that they are happy for Sahin to go, it seems that it is only a matter of time before we see the Turkish international apply his trade in England. Arsenal are in pole position for the midfielder, but Liverpool are also monitoring the situation.

With the departure of Song to Barcelona, here are my reasons why Sahin is a must.

Sahin’s qualities as a footballer are undeniable, helping Dortmund win the Bundesliga in 2010/11 contributing six goals and eight assists.

He made the most key passes that season with 104 and had the highest average rating with 7.73 (whoscored.com).

He won plaudits from his fellow professionals and the German media, winning player of the year. He was also the youngest ever player to play in the Bundesliga at the age of 17, making his debut in 2005.

Add to that the fact that he has over 30 caps for Turkey, and you can see why Arsene is keen to bring him to the Emirates.

Sahin is a gifted player with a fantastic left foot. His passing is excellent and he is a player who is always moving, wanting the ball. He will be able to orchestrate the Arsenal midfield, linking midfield with attack. Sahin has the Spanish way of playing ingrained in him; quick-passing, creativity and short, sharp passes. But that said, he is one who will not neglect his defensive duties, knowing when to sit back, break-up opposition attacks and move forward with the ball.

Add him to the likes of Wilshere, Cazorla, Arteta and Ramsey and you can see the depth the club would have. With Wilshere not due to return until October at the earliest, Sahin would be the player required to break down defences and spot the defence-splitting pass. He is an intelligent footballer, understanding when to retain possession and when to release the ball. I believe that an even more stylish Arsenal will emerge. An imaginative player, he should be able to strike up an understanding with both Cazorla and Arteta, making it the best midfield in the league.

Sahin will also be keen to impress. After his big money move to Real, he has found playing time hard to come by. He has been likened to Mezut Ozil, and that is the reason he cannot get in to the first team. Sahin will want to show what he can do and secure himself first-team football. Playing in the Champions League will enable him to showcase his talents on the biggest stage.

Perhaps, most importantly, the move would be initially on loan. Arsenal fans will not worry about vast amounts of money being spent on a player who may not perform. He will a season-long loan to prove his talent and win the hearts and minds of the fans. Only after he has proved himself, can we think about making things permanent.

I for one am excited about the possible arrival of Sahin, believing that he may be exactly what is required to close the gap between us and the Manchester clubs. Podolski and Giroud will settle and score the goals required. Sahin, Cazorla and Arteta will make sure of that.
