Arsene To Shore Up Defence With €12 Million Roma Centre Back

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has once again been linked with AS Roma’s defensive lynchpin Philippe Mexès. The Gunners made an approach for Mexès last summer which was turned down.

Mexès, 28, has periodically been linked with a move away from the Giallorossi with moves to Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid his most likely destination.

There has also been much interest from our shores with Manchester United and Liverpool also said to be monitoring his situation.

The 18 cap defender has allegedly been told by Roma officials that his current deal will not be renewed, which has led to reports the Gunners could seal the deal for as little as £4.5 million.

The Italian outfit will be less inclined to accept a deal of this value and would be looking to actually make money from the transfer. It has been noted that Roma would be willing to do business at around €12 Million.
