Arsene Unearths Another Wonderkid – And Scatters The Vultures Yet Again

Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Japanese teenager Ryo Miyaichi amazingly not from a top flight Japanese club, instead signing the talented forward straight from high school.

Miyaichi, 18, trialled for Arsenal over the summer months and impressed sufficiently for Wenger to agree a deal for as soon as his studies at Chukyodai Chuyko High School have finished. The playmaker forward is described as a box of tricks with raw ability and lightening pace.

Wenger of course managed Nagoya Grampus Eight for 18 months in 1995-96 and has brought over Junichi Inamoto to the Premiership in the past. Miyaichi is a player more in the mould of Arsenals other transfer target CSKA Moscow’s Keisuke Honda.

Wenger had this to say “he (Miyaichi) trialed with us in the summer and has raw ability which has attracted many clubs around the world. I look forward to helping him fulfill his potential here.” He added, “It’s very important that Asia is represented at our club.”

Whether Miyaichi is a success at the Gunners, or follows Inamoto out the door after a few games only time will tell.
