The Arsenal fans are in the Transfer Tavern this afternoom and there seems to be split in opinion about the potential departure of their old number nine.
Reports from the Evening Standard suggest that Real Deportivo have submitted a £9 million for their former player, Arsenal striker Lucas Perez.
Despite the fact that the Gunners would be making a sizeable loss on the want-away striker, they’d also be losing a great talent who they have massively wasted.
During the 2015/16 season, Perez managed 17 goals and ten assists in 36 league games for Deportivo.
Last season, following his move to Arsene Wenger’s side, scored eight and provided six assists in 22 games in all competitions.
That is still a contribution of 14 goals in 22 games for Arsenal in his debut season which is a good record.
The 28-year-old striker has just never been given a consistent chance in the first team and following the signing of Alexandre Lacazette this summer, his chances just got a lot slimmer.
On his Champions League debut, he bagged two assists and in his first full start in the same competition, he scored a hat-trick for Arsenal.
Olivier Giroud was always picked ahead of the Spaniard last season and our landlord thinks that was a great waste of a great talent.
The only party out of all of this that benefit are Deportivo – they will essentially be receiving £10 million for a year long loan.
Not bad business.
