One of our punters in the Football Transfer Tavern shows no sign of shock at the latest claim from the Metro, as the publication notes that Arsenal could well be forced into the transfer market with the injury to forward Olivier Giroud.
The striker has been the main man for the Gunners, and has been in sensational form this term. Many of our regulars have pointed to the fact that the club do need another forward if they are hoping to challenge for the title and finally end that long quest for sliver wear, and the injury to Giroud could well be a blessing in disguise if it forces manager Arsene Wenger to act.
The long serving boss spoke about his potential plans this winter, and claimed: ‘I believe we have to give [Giroud] credit for one thing, that physically he has coped with it until now in a remarkable way and with a fantastic combative attitude.
‘I don’t know if we will do something or not [in January], but it is not to replace Olivier Giroud – we have a great confidence in Olivier Giroud.’
Diego Costa and Christian Benteke have all been linked with the club, and it seems that Wenger currently cannot win. The likes of Costa are settled and Benteke is suffering from injury.
