Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern will be disappointed by the latest comments coming from their manager, considering it concerns talking about their rivals best players, although it is for the international team’s purpose.
Arsene Wenger has picked out Harry Kane and Dele Alli as the two players that could provide the difference to England’s chances of lifting the World Cup this summer. As you can imagine, that’s caused quite a shock amongst both sets of punters from all over the north London divide.
The Arsenal boss has singled these two young stars out as very efficient performers and proved it with their performances in whatever competition that they have played in.
“England [could go to the final] because they have a good young generation, they are very efficient with Harry Kane and Dele Alli and all these players that score many goals now at international level,” he told beIN SPORTS via the Metro.
“They come out of a disappointing European championships but they qualified in style and overall you cannot rule England out.
Wenger did air on the side of caution when predicting how far the Three Lions could go in the tournament, stating that it would be difficult to know what state the players would be in physically.
“I must say, with the experiences we had recently, it’s difficult to predict because in England we have long championships, players play many games. In what state will they go to the World Cup physically? It’s difficult to know,” he added.
Arsenal fans here in the Tavern will find it difficult to accept the comments made by Wenger regarding Spurs’ two stars, however, the locals may be prepared to let it go as they look forward to England’s World Cup campaign.
Though it’s largely through gritted teeth, our resident Gooners are hoping Alli and Kane can take their club form into the World Cup this summer and bring that famous old trophy back to these shores, despite how unlikely it is right now.
