Arsene Wenger reignites Mourinho feud after hilarious snub

The Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern couldn’t help but laugh at this…

Jose Mourinho might have left Chelsea, but his ongoing rivalry with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is set to continue whilst in charge of Manchester United this year.

Our landlord was expecting the pair to put their differences behind them for the new season; but that definitely doesn’t appear to be the case.

In a report published by Marca, both Wenger and Mourinho were present at the same UEFA event this week – and they seemingly couldn’t resist reviving their decade-long feud.

According to Marca, Arsene Wenger was reportedly sat down in a press room ahead of a conference, when Jose Mourinho walked into the room.

With the event due to start, very few seats were reportedly available – but there just happened to be one next to a certain Mr. Wenger.

Jose Mourinho asked if anybody was sitting in the seat, to which Arsene Wenger piped up and promptly said “No, it isn’t possible”. Very awkward…

Mourinho is often presented in the press as the aggressor between the pair,  but with the Portuguese manager seemingly ready to bury the hatchet with the Frenchman – it was instead Arsene Wenger that went on the offensive.

Some of the punters here in the Football Transfer Tavern are pleased that Mourinho is finally getting his comeuppance after a series of disrespectful moves during his Chelsea spell…

The spat began between the pair during Mourinho’s first spell with Chelsea, when Wenger began criticising Mourinho’s approach to the game tactically.

Numerous back-and-forths ensued, but the feud was put on hold following Jose’s Chelsea departure.

Then, in Mourinho’s second spell at Chelsea – the infamous ‘specialist in failure’ line came from Mourinho. The feud then got physical during a clash between Chelsea and Arsenal in 2014, with the pair squaring up to each other – before being separated.

Everyone here in the Tavern thought that the Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho’s feud book had ended; but they are seemingly just starting another chapter…

Arsenal fans – pleased that Wenger stood up to Mourinho? Man Utd fans – Ready to defend your boss?
