The departures of Nasri and Fabregas to Manchester City and Barcelona respectively sent warning bells around the Emirates this summer, as their two biggest stars showed their true colours forcing themselves out of the club.
However it was Arsene Wenger’s refusal to spend the large transfer sums that left the fans truly disgruntled and when he finally splashed out on Arteta, many questions have arised whether the 29 injury prone year old will be able to fill the vacuum left by Arsenal’s two outstanding players in the last couple of seasons.
Mario Gotze however would slot right into this gaping hole and at only 19, he is exactly the sort of player Arsene Wenger normally pursues. Having helped Boruissia Dortmund to their first Bundesliga title last year, Gotze has been rewarded with ten caps for Germany scoring 2 goals. The young playmaker has been scouted by several clubs and Arsenal reportedly made an offer which was rejected by German club in the summer.
Arsenal now are reportedly looking at a cash plus player deal, by offering out of favour Marouane Chamakh, which could tempt the German Champions. A classic example of a top European striker struggling in the English Premiership, the Moroccan has found himself on the bench for every game this season, as Arsene has opted for Van Persie down the middle.
It would present a great opportunity for both players and the money is certainly there for Arsenal to spend, with their title bid falling by the wayside, they must act in January, the dream teen is the answer to their problems.
