‘As good as De Dea’ – Liverpool fans on Twitter urge club to sign world class shot-stopper

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been begging their club to fork out the money needed to sign Jan Oblak this window. The Slovenian shot-stopper has proven himself as one of the best in the world in his position and any club would be extremely lucky to secure his services. The Atletico stopper was a part of the Europa League winning team under Diego Simeone this season and he could well be a part of a Premier League winning side with Jurgen Klopp next year.

Oblak has been linked with an Anfield swap alongside another of Europe’s top ‘keepers. Roma’s Brazilian sensation, Allison is the other name who’s been touted with the switch, and either of the pair would be a huge upgrade on both Simon Mignolet and calamity Karius, who have both made an abundance of errors leading to Klopp looking to the market and contemplating fees of up to £100 million to sort out his problems between the sticks. Whether the club gets Allison or Oblak though, the issues between the sticks should be solved.

Allison is the most likely of the two to make the move to Merseyside and our resident Reds have seen him up close and personal as they faced him in the Champions League semi-finals, putting seven past the 25-year-old in 180 minutes, although none of the goals can be put down to the ‘keeper. Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid and Oblak quietly went about their business, beating Arsenal in the Europa League semi-final and going on to win the competition in Lyon, conceding just six goals in their nine knockout stage fixtures up to winning the tournament.

Indeed, one Liverpool fan has even compared him to Manchester United man David De Gea, who is widely regarded as the best ‘keeper in the league.
