Many Aston Villa fans have been fuming at the decision to rule Ollie Watkins offside in the club’s recent Premier League game against West Bromwich Albion.

While Dean Smith’s Villa did beat the Baggies 3-0 on Sunday, Watkins had found the back of the net in the 72nd minute. His goal though, was disallowed by VAR as he was judged to have been very marginally offside in the build-up to the goal (as per the Guardian).

Watkins, who has found the back of the net six times in the Premier League this season, didn’t score in the game as Anwar El-Ghazi grabbed an impressive brace and Bertrand Traore also scored in the 84th minute of the tie. As a result, Villa are now ninth in the league with 22 points and are only four points behind third-placed Manchester United (as per BBC Sport).

Their next game will see them host Crystal Palace on Boxing Day. Despite the club’s win, some Villa fans were fuming at the decision to rule Watkins’ goal out as offside. They took to social media and made their opinions very clear about it.
