Aston Villa: Fans gush over Snodgrass after West Ham draw

West Ham midfielder Robert Snodgrass returned to his former side last night, as the East Londoners played out a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa in the Premier League. 

The Scotland international spent the entirety of the 2017-18 campaign on loan with the West Midlands outfit, scoring eight goals whilst chipping in with a further 13 assists from midfield, per Transfermarkt.

He is clearly held in high regard at Villa Park, and last night received a warm reception from Villans fans as he took to the pitch he once graced.

Unfortunately for Snodgrass, though, he did not feature last night during the game as he remained an unused substitute throughout the 90, but that didn’t stop him taking to the field after the final whistle was blown to clap each stand.

The thoughtful gesture, although only small, unsurprisingly went down a treat with Villa fans on Twitter. Here’s how some reacted after Villa’s official Twitter account posted a picture of him on the pitch after the game:
