Aston Villa manager Dean Smith celebrates his one year anniversary in charge of the club today.
Is Dean Smith getting the most out of Aston Villa's squad?
The 48-year-old replaced Steve Bruce at the helm, joining from Brentford and it would be fair to say that he has done an extremely good job in his time at Villa Park so far.
Of course his standout achievement is guiding the West Midlands club to promotion back to the Premier League. He oversaw a successful play-off campaign in which they beat local rivals West Brom in a two-legged semi-final before then securing a 2-1 win against Derby County in the final at Wembley.
In total the former Walsall manager has taken charge of 48 games at the club so far, winning 23 of those whilst drawing 12 and losing 13 (via Soccerbase).
The Aston Villa supporters absolutely love Smith after the job he has done in his first year, and also because he is a boyhood fan of the club.
On their official Twitter page, Villa posted a reminder that they appointed him one year ago, and here is what some of the faithful had to say about their manager…
Best thing to happen to the club in years

The most important signing we have made in years. Can’t imagine the Villa without him.

Hopefully our manager for many years to come! Love watching us play proper football these days with a Villa man in charge and one as captain. #UTV
