Aston Villa

Aston Villa fans on Twitter are absolutely delighted about star’s latest award

The Aston Vila fans in the Transfer Tavern have been flocking to congratulate their 29-year-old defender, James Chester after he won the Supporters’ Player of the Season for his performances this campaign. The Welshman is yet to miss a minute of Championship football for the Villains in the league this year and has captained the club 13 times in the league.

Without the brilliant defensive shift that Chester provides, it would be hard to imagine Steve Bruce’s side sitting where they are in the table. The Birmingham club are currently fourth in the Championship, and whilst their hopes of going up automatically are next to nil, the fans will be confident of promotion via the playoffs. The club has two remaining league games against Derby and Millwall before the playoffs begin and after beating Ipswich 4-0 on Saturday they’ll be eager to continue their momentum with two more wins.

Steve Bruce has worked wonders with his current crop of players. The Villains suffered a shaky start to the season and sat 23rd after just three games. The fans will be regretting their slow start now as they look to what could have been as Cardiff and Fulham battle it out above them for a second place finish. The way things look at the moment, Villa will be facing Middlesbrough in their first playoff tie, the Villa Park faithful will be confident of promotion and have been busting to get back to the top-flight since their relegation in 2016.
