Yesterday, The Villains on Twitter were treated to seeing a video from their club’s training in which Alan Hutton scored a screamer. However, instead of praising the experienced defender, the Villa Park faithful went to town on the 33-year-old, calling for him to be dropped.

At the age of 33, it’s fair to say that the veteran right-back is past his best. The Scottish defender is the last surviving member of the ‘bomb squad’ team that was solely responsible for their relegation from the Premier League in the 2015/16 season and to be fair to him, over the last couple of years he’s turned himself around at the club. Either way, though, the fans are now calling for him to be axed after some sluggish displays.
Hutton has had an interesting career, the ex-Tottenham man has played in Scotland, England and Spain and now, at the age of 33, retirement will be on his mind as he continues to kick on at Villa. The defender has a contract until summer 2019 and it’s hard to see Dean Smith renewing his deal after then, especially with the fan’s reaction towards him starting to turn now as they look ahead to the future.

Ironic considering his usual performances are a nightmare.

I’d be more impressed if the camera had managed to catch footage of him in position and tracking his man.

Yeah well let’s see if he can do it against Bolton when we’re 3-0 down

Was he trying to clear his lines?

Needs 2 score when it matters on matchdays no good in training

Yet can’t do anything on match day

The fans appreciate what Hutton has done for the club but would like to see him take a step back in the coming months in a wind down to the end of the season.
