As reported by the Daily Mail, Tom Cleverley’s loan move to Aston Villa has been given the thumbs up by Premier League chiefs after the West Midlands club filed for an extension.
The Villains requested a two hour extension to get the deal finalised before Monday’s 11pm deadline before filing the paperwork 15 minutes after the new cut-off point.
However, after considering the club’s case, the Premier League has now approved the loan and he will now spend the next few months at Villa Park with a view to a permanent deal.
Everton manager Roberto Martinez was also keen on bringing the England midfielder to the club and he tried to hijack the deal at the eleventh hour but Manchester United turned down their offer of £5.5 million.
This meant that Cleverley had to dash to Carrington to sign the necessary paperwork before faxing it over to the Premier League headquarters.
