According to The Mirror, Middlesbrough are ready to sell Jordan Rhodes with Aston Villa firmly in the picture to sign him – exciting our Villans here in the Transfer Tavern.
The former Blackburn Rovers striker joined Boro in January of last season with a big reputation for scoring goals in the Championship but, for whatever reason, things haven’t quite worked out for him at the club.
He’s only appeared twice this season in the Premier League for Aitor Karanka’s men and that seems to be the reason why the Teesiders are now open to letting him go in the January window of this campaign.
Villa have been in decent form under Steve Bruce with our resident Villans fans beginning to think a return to the Premier League could definitely be on the cards this year and the signing of Rhodes, they feel, could be pivotal.
Whilst he hasn’t had the best time of it at the Riverside Stadium he is a proven goal-scorer at Championship level and our landlord thinks it would be an inspired move to get him in at Villa Park.
How good could Rhodes be, Villa fans? Let us know below!
