Swansea City will be hoping to steer clear of relegation as manager Carlos Carvalhal looks to guide the Swans away from a return to the Championship.
A season of struggle for the Welsh club is still not over, with the club looking to beat the drop and with some crucial games coming up as they sit just three points above the drop zone. The summer will be a big one for the Swans, and with the club’s transfer plans likely to be affected by which league they are in, Carvalhal will need to make sure he has contingency plans in place.
However, here in the Tavern, our landlord thinks they can survive, and he thinks the club should make a summer move for current West Ham and Aston Villa loanee, Robert Snodgrass.
The on loan West Ham winger was frozen out at the London Stadium, but has been brilliant for Steve Bruce’s men as the Midlanders have mounted a push for promotion. Snodgrass is easily good enough for the top flight and he has shown previously in spells with Hull and Norwich that he can indeed perform at the highest level.
Swansea have all too often in the last few years looked abroad and spent big money on players who have simply not paid off, and moving for someone closer to home might well be a wiser strategy this time around.
While Snodgrass is renowned as being a bit of a character, he is certainly a quality player with a wand of a left foot, and could be a shrewd capture for the Swans.
