Aston Villa make contact with West Ham for Jordan Hugill

Aston Villa are looking to kick-start their transfer window as quickly as possible after the disastrous situation they found themselves in appears to have been sorted out.

Steve Bruce’s side had fell victim to the Financial Fair Play regulations following their defeat to Fulham in the Championship play-off final at the end of last season and have been feeling the effects ever since.

A number of players are expected to follow John Terry out of Villa Park, with the likes of Jack Grealish, James Chester and Jonathan Kodjia attracting interest from clubs all across England.

However, with the arrival of Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens as new majority shareholders, the club are now in a position to try and convince their stars to stay, as well as giving Bruce a chance in the transfer market, one that he is prepared to make the most of.

According to a report in The Sun, Aston Villa are thought to have already approached West Ham United about the possibility of taking Jordan Hugill on loan.

It remains to be seen if the striker will be allowed to leave the London Stadium outfit, but if he is, Bruce will look to beat competition from Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers for the former Preston North End ace.

The Verdict:

Hugill would certainly give the Villans some firepower as they look to return back to the Premier League.

With Scott Hogan, and provided Kodjia does not leave this summer, the club would have one of the best attacking trios in the Championship and would scare opposition defences.

However, Villa will know they will face a lot of competition for the player, with Leeds and QPR sniffing around and could miss out on the West Ham man.
