Aston Villa manager set for unsurprising exit

gardee43222The Aston Villa fans are competing in a pool tournament in The Transfer Tavern this evening and discussing reports that the club could be looking for a new manager in the summer.

The Express is reporting that the Aston Villa board look certain to axe Remi Garde as the club’s manager as soon as the season comes to a close.

Garde took over from Tim Sherwood earlier in the season and was tasked with keeping the club in the Premier League, a task which is looking more unlikely as each game passes.

Garde is adamant that his management style is not to blame for the club’s struggles this season and says that the reasons the club are struggling is nothing to do with his methods.

Speaking about the club’s struggles following Saturday’s 4-0 defeat at Manchester City, Garde said:

“I am very confident in my management, I have a lot of problems here but that is not one of them. Now is not the time to speak about next season, for me or my players.”

Our landlord here in The Tavern is not at all surprised by the news coming out of Villa Park and feel that Garde could resign rather than have a sacking on his CV.

As for the Aston Villa fans they do not hold Garde fully responsible as they feel that the club’s demise has been a long time coming and lay a lot of the blame at the feet of owner Randy Lerner.

Villa fans, are you doomed? Can you ever recover? Let us know in the comments below!
