Aston Villa players will have to take hefty wage reduction after relegation

villa2The Aston Villa fans who are competing in a pool tournament in The Transfer Tavern are discussing reports concerning a wage cut their players will take.

The Daily Mail is reporting that any Villa players who remain at the club follwing their relegation to the Championship will be taking a pay cut of up to 50% on what they are earning this season.

Most players in the Villa squad had pay cut clauses put into their contracts upon signing for the club in the event of relegation, which is common place for many clubs in the Premier League.

The move is likely to agitate players and have them looking to secure a move away from the fallen Midlands club.

With a lot of players on high wages it will be a massive summer of rebuilding for the new manager whomever he may be and the task of getting the club back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

The Villa fans in The Tavern are not at all interested in the players wage woes as they feel they have underperformed and the club would be better off getting rid of the lot of them and starting again.

Villa fans, which players in your current squad do you want to ensure stay? Let us know in the comments below!
