The Aston Villa fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern are discussing reports their club is to make their move to appoint a new manager.
The Telegraph is reporting that the doomed Premier League club are set to approach Nigel Pearson to become the club’s new manager.
The former Leicester City boss looks set for the Villa Park post and end the club’s search for Frenchman Remi Garde’s replacement.
The appointment is set to be announced in the coming days and it will give Pearson a chance to assess the players currently on the club’s books and see who will fit into his plans for Championship football next season.
Pearson has a wealth of experience at Champiobship level and famously led Leicester to the Premier League and laid the foundations for the success that the Midlands club have had this season.
Pearson already has his mind set on who he wants to assist him, with Chris Powell heavily reported to be joining him at Villa Park.
Our landlord in The Tavern thinks the appointment of Pearson is a shrewd piece of business and that he has what it takes if given the support from upstairs to get the fallen giants back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
As for the Villa fans they are pleased that the club are looking at a British manager with experience of Championship football and hope Pearson will be successful and bring the good times back to the club.
