Aston Villa see latest bid rejected for striker, will have to improve offer

Our local Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to see signings to help them get up the table but, according to The Daily Mail, Jordan Rhodes’ potential deal is under threat.

Villa are going well under Steve Bruce this season now and harbour genuine play-off qualification hopes.

Indeed, our landlord reckons they, and pretty much anyone else in the division for that matter, can get into those positions by May if they get some momentum going now.

That momentum could come in the form of signing Jordan Rhodes from Middlesbrough but, as things stand, Boro are holding out for more in terms of money from Villa.

The Villans have had a £6 million bid rejected so far and it is thought that Boro would actually want closer to £9 million for a forward that’s barely played this season.

That news has certainly wound up our Villa punters here in the bar as they simply cannot see why Boro think they can charge so much.

Indeed, our landlord agrees with that view and thinks that the striker may have to push a deal through himself.
