The suffering Aston Villa fans here in the Tavern haven’t had very much at all to get excited about this season as the campaign goes from one disaster to another, with their club firmly rooted to the bottom of the Premier League.
Not many of their supporters, especially the ones in here, haven’t got much praise for any of their squad at the minute and there has been public fallouts between fans and players as well as mass walkouts over the last few months.
But what do Villa fans think to their skipper Micah Richards’ latest comments on the club’s official website where he insists that the squad have not given up on Premier League survival?
Well many of them, as expected, are saying that they gave up months ago and their results and performances would certainly back them up but Richards couldn’t really say anything else could he?
With only ten games remaining, Villa are firmly rooted in last position and they are eight points from safety with a much worse goal difference so it is going to take something of miraculous proportions to save them from here.
During the week, thousands of Villa fans walked out after 74 minutes of their latest defeat, this time to Everton, and they are now starting to vote with their feet about the way their club is run with owner Randy Lerner again thousands of miles away from Villa Park.
Three wins in their 28 games so far is a pretty pathetic attempt and, quite rightly, Villa fans have now seen enough, their fans deserve much more, they are a club with great history but right now Villa fans see only doom and gloom for the future.
As for Richards’ claims, Villa fans here in the Tavern will only start to believe it when the players start showing that, and the only way that will happen is if results at least improve a little bit!
