The Express have revealed to Aston Villa fans in the Football Transfer Tavern that their outcast Darren Bent has finally moved away from Villa Park, joining Championship strugglers Brighton & Hove Albion on loan.
The former England international’s career has really hit a brick wall since moving to Aston Villa after he was hit with horrendous injury problems while being given minimal opportunities when fit.
But punters in the tavern are delighted to hear that he is back and he will hopefully be playing week in, week out after agreeing an initial 28-day loan spell with the Seagulls.
Former Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia is at the helm down south at the AMEX Stadium and the big Finn will hope the 30-year-old will rediscover his previous form as his side currently sits in 20th place, only out of the relegation zone on goal difference.
Bent is expected to make his debut against Fulham, the club where he spent a stint on loan last season.
Many forget that Bent is Villa’s record signing following his £24 million move from Sunderland in 2011 but when fit, Villains boss Paul Lambert hasnot really offered him much game time at all.
Aston Villa fans. Are you happy to hear that Bent is finally out and playing football rather than being stuck on your substitutes bench? Let us know your thoughts below.
