No, not because its now the cheapest place to get a pint in Great Britain, but rather because it appears that Aston Villa’s talks with Remi Garde have taken a turn for the worse.
According to sources such as the Daily Mail, Garde is in disagreement with the board at Villa over the make-up of his backroom staff. Indeed, should Garde take over at Villa Park, he wants to make sure both Bruno Genesio and Joel Bats will be there alongside him.
To add further fuel to the fire, Lyon themselves are reluctant to also lose Genesio and Bats to the Midlands as well.
So, for now it appears that U21 coach Kevin McDonald will be in charge at least for the Monday night football clash with Tottenham Hotspur next week, as Villa’s managerial question remains firmly up in the air.
Villa fans, if the pursuit of Garde fails, who else would be a viable candidate for the hotseat? Moyes? Rodgers? Warburton? Let us know!
