Aston Villa fans in the Transfer Tavern are excited to see a positive approach from their club, after they were linked with a swoop for an exceptional striker.
The Telegraph states that new Villa boss Remi Garde wants to bring QPR striker Charlie Austin to the club in January, in a bid to turn around the East Midlands club’s fortunes and push them away from the relegation trapdoor.
Villa are currently the lowest-scoring side in the Premier League and have a good chance of securing Austin’s services in the New Year, as QPR currently sit 13th in the Championship table and eight points behind the promotion spots.
Reports state QPR will assess whether offloading Austin in January is the right move, with the striker out of contract at the end of the season- when he would be available on a free transfer.
Austin started this season with eight goals in nine games, before suffering an injury setback, and netted 18 Premier League goals last season, though it wasn’t enough to save QPR from the drop to the second-tier.
Villa fans at the bar are hopeful that it won’t be a similar occurrence for their side, praying that Austin’s addition will provide the goals to save their top-flight status.
