Aston Villa targeting Swansea City boss

monk3The pressure is mounting on Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood and the gossip is circling the Transfer Tavern to who his replacement might be if the axe should fall ending his ten month stay in charge.

David Moyes is favorite to take over at Villa Park and Brendan Rodgers is also in the frame if the position becomes available. However The Telegraph reports that the club are interested in Swansea City manager Gary Monk.

Monk has impressed at the Liberty Stadium since taking over from Michael Laudrup in February 2014 and guided Swansea to an impressive eighth placed finish last season.

It is Monk’s first job in management and he is getting admiring glances from all around the Premier League.

Sherwood has been under constant pressure this season and Villa have only picked up four points this season losing their last five games.

Villa play Swansea this weekend and ironically it could be Monk who delivers the final nail for Sherwood’s coffin. Despite Monk being coveted by Villa his Swansea side are undergoing a poor run of form and are without a win in five games.
