Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to a comment made by Trezeguet on his role in helping the Midlands based side remain in the Premier League.
The final day of the Premier League season pitted West Ham United and Villa against each other in what was seen as a relegation battle.
Whilst the Hammers were deemed safe prior to the match, everything was still on the line for Villa with Bournemouth picking up a 3-1 win against Everton at Goodison Park.
Jack Grealish opened the scoring with six minutes remaining on the clock before Andriy Yarmolenko levelled the tie. It finished 1-1, with a point enough to keep Dean Smith’s side up.
Remaining in the Premier League, Villa winger Trezeguet opted to discuss his pride in helping the Midlands based side remain in the top flight.
The Egyptian forward scored six goals and assisted twice during the 2019/2020 campaign after arriving on a permanent deal from Kasimpasa last summer.
Speaking to beIN Sports as quoted by KingFut, Trezeguet said: “Hard work always pays off. It was a tough season because sometimes I play, sometimes I don’t but I always believed that my chance would come. In the end, I had my chance and I’m happy that I had a role in keeping Aston Villa in the Premier League.”
Loads of Villa fans have been reacting to these comments, with many thinking that he is indicating that he will leave the club this summer. Indeed, he has been linked with moves to both Galatasaray and Besiktas touted.
Here is what some had to say, with one labelling him a ‘Villa legend’ for the goals he has scored of late which ultimately helped them survive the drop…

sounds like a departure statement

Not fussed if he leaves because he was largely ineffective for most of the games he played, but massive thanks to him for the goals he scored, some of the most vital of the season.

think he is off

That’s a goodbye statement. But I’d happily see him go. He’ll be a Villa legend because of the amount of important goals he’s scored 👍🏼
