The Aston Villa fans playing in a pool tournament in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing comments made by a former player at Villa Park.
In a scathing interview with The Daily Mirror, Aston Villa lengend Paul McGrath has stated under the club’s current regime he can see the side dropping as low as League One during the next couple of seasons.
With the club currently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League and owners who don’t attend games, McGrath fears the worst for his former club. Speaking about the club, McGrath said
“Americans don’t know what Villa means to Villa fans. You need people who love the club. I have always loved Aston Villa and it is because the way the fans have treated me. If there are not people who love the club then it is going to downhill anyway.”
“We are going to be second division next year, probably third division after and we are not going to come back.”
The Aston Villa fans in The Transfer Tavern are in full agreement with their former players comments and believe that if Lerner has any ounce of decency he would look to sell the club as soon as possible.
