Villa fans all around the Tavern are thrilled with their current form as they remain on course for a
shot at Premier League return. Villa should now start to target players to boost their squad for a potential top-flight return so they can remain there for years to come.
This season, Villa have seen a variety of goalscorers on the score-sheet but given that they are hopeful of a Premier League return, that league requires more firepower if a newly promoted team want to stay there. Villa’s fate is still hanging in the balance but recent form suggests that they could challenge for the automatic promotion places.
If, and that’s a big if, they return to the top of English football, punters round us suggest that Arsenal outcast Danny Welbeck should be a player they target to increase their goal threat. Valued at £13.50 million on Transfermarkt, the striker has found game-time hard to come by considering he is battling to start against players such as Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
In all competitions Welbeck has played in this season, he has managed five goals but with regular football guaranteed at a team like Aston Villa, this may turn the 27-year-old’s head and allow him to prove to Arsenal that he is a capable striker and it would be a mistake to get rid of him.
This move has a possibility because Arsenal will desperately look to the summer as a chance to rebuild and banish un-needed talent. This could mean Welbeck would be surplus to requirements and Premier League hopefuls Villa could swoop in and grab themselves a bargain.
