Aston Villa will desperately want to find some real consistency as they head into the second half of the season.
After a desperately poor start, credit does have to go to the team and management, for overseeing the Villans move into eighth position.
Yet eighth position will again mean they miss out on promotion, something Aston Villa cannot afford to do considering how much is invested in their current team.
To ensure that promotion isn’t an issue, they need to invest during the January transfer window.
Money seemingly isn’t a problem for the Villans, so it should be an easy task to recruit Toulouse midfielder Yann Bodiger.
Bodiger, (who is valued at £2.7 million on Transfermarkt) is a composed, defensive-minded ball-player that would be a superb addition at Villa Park.
The 23-year-old has seen his game-time dramatically reduced this season, with just the one league appearance to his name so far.
It was only two seasons ago that Yann Bodiger was an integral part of Toulouse’s midfield, after he made 32 appearances in all competitions.
His time now though in France is surely almost up with his lack of play-time so Villa should be the first in line, eagerly awaiting his signature.
In a move that would bolster their midfield, Bodiger would likely sit alongside John McGinn, protecting Villa’s defence, which could be a valuable step in heading towards promotion this season.
With age, ability and desire on his side, nothing about this move can be doubted by Aston Villa as replacing Glenn Whelan with a younger, more energetic midfielder could do wonders for their team.
