Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern are feeling a little deflated today because, as quoted by The Birmingham Mail, Steve Bruce has revealed that any deal for Jordan Rhodes is off.
Villa are hoping that they can get some momentum going in this period of matches with the run-in for the play-offs on the horizon.
It’s usually the club that arrives like a train into those games that has the best chance of going up and so our resident Villans are keen to see Steve Bruce spark that off.
It looks as though, though, that Jordan Rhodes will not be a part of any such charge.
The striker is a well-known, prolific player at Championship level but in the Premier League this season for Middlesbrough he’s become a forgotten man.
Our landlord thought, then, that a move for him would be the best idea but any such deal seems to be completely dead in the water.
Indeed, Villa boss Bruce said of the transfer:
“It looks as if that’s run its course. We tried our best to bring him in but that looks as if it’s not going to happen.”
A shame for the Villa Park side and the player, then, and our landlord reckons the Villans should try and get another striker in before the window shuts in just over a week’s time.
