Aston Villa fans here in the Tavern are hoping their side can bounce back from Tuesday night’s loss, as they continue to chase an automatic promotion place.
Steve Bruce’s side were looking like challenging for automatic promotion after beating Wolverhampton Wanderers, but suffered a setback in their last Championship outing as Queens Park Rangers inflicted defeat on the Villains. And, it doesn’t look like things are getting any easier, as according to Aston Villa’s official Twitter account, Neil Taylor is unlikely to be fit for today’s clash against Bolton Wanderers.
Steve Bruce has confirmed that Neil Taylor is unlikely to be fit for Villa’s match away at the Macron later today, after being taken off early in the 3-1 defeat to QPR due to a groin problem.
The 29-year-old has been kept out of the team by Alan Hutton for much of the campaign, but with the Scotsman and Manchester United loanee Axel Tuanzebe also absent with hamstring injuries, Bruce is left with a serious headache for a crucial fixture in their bid for promotion.
Indeed, failing to secure all three points later on today against Bolton Wanderers could blow any chance of an automatic place, and news on Neil Taylor certainly won’t help the cause after delivering arguably his most established performance of the season against Wolves last weekend.
News that Neil Taylor is unlikely to be fit for today’s fixture has many of our local residents already accepting defeat in the automatic promotion race, as injuries are beginning to halt any progress being made by Villa. And, with Bolton Wanderers currently fighting for a future in the Championship, Aston Villa could be in for a long afternoon.
